Attending the LSA

I am currently attending the conference of the Linguistic Society of America, which is taking place in Boston, MA at the same time as the MLA. I am a bit overwhelmed by the scale of the event but it is an exciting opportunity to network and learn about the latest research. Yesterday I gave a presentation at the SPCL conference and I am very grateful for all the feedback and food for thought I received there.

In late November/early December I was invited to speak at a conference on colonial linguistics at the IDS in Mannheim, Germany. It was an honor to present another aspect of my research on missionary Johannes Rath and I am looking forward to further collaborations.

For 2013, I am only planning on attending the Graduate Workshop for German Linguistics and the Austrian Linguistics Conference, and hopefully one of the many exciting events taking place at the University of Bremen this year. And of course doing my fieldwork and archive research in Papua New Guinea!

Happy New Year!

Back from WOCAL

WOCAL7 (World Congress of African Linguistics) was a successful event! Stimulating talks by world-renowned scholars, discussing potential collaborations, an informative workshop and Cameroonian hospitality made it a wonderful experience. Click here for the abstract of my talk on early documentation of the Herero language and for the presentation.

Off to Cameroon to participate in the World Congress of African Linguistics! Looking forward to meeting you there!
